Vegan-ish Gyros w/Homemade Pita Bread
Pita Bread:
2 parts flour (preferably bread flour)
1 part plain Greek yogurt
Garlic powder, dried parsley (optional)
- Knead together in a bowl until mixed. Add more yogurt as needed as the dough shouldn't be too dry. If using seasonings for extra flavor, mix in ass you knead. Let sit 30 minutes.
- Separate and roll out dough to desired size.
- In a hot skillet, with butter or oil, cook the bread until golden brown. Flip and repeat. Don't over cook and flip continuously to prevent burning, until finished.
Sauce:
Plain Greek yogurt
Dill (fresh or dried)
Fresh squeezed lemon juice
Pinch of salt
Garlic powder/minced garlic (optional)
- Mix together all the ingredients as needed and to your desired flavor and texture.
- Refrigerate to let cool while you prepare the other items.
